	Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences   Based on numerous cutting-edge research findings that are well-known internationally and have also been implemented in regional medical service, Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences trains highly creative and self-sufficient researchers, leaders in research, education and medical care, and medical professionals with an ethical perspective based on expert knowledge and humane principles. To achieve the cultivation of human resources, we established the following educational objectives: １ To understand the needs of society and train researchers in the appropriate fields of medical care, research and education, which serve the public from the regional to the international level. ２ To promote interdisciplinary research and education by assembling professionals with knowledge in medicine, dentistry, and pharmaceutical sciences. ３ To promote the world-class original research and provide outlets for disseminating the research findings. ４ To teach students specialized and extensive knowledge and to encourage their problem-solving skills, which can be adapted to advance their research and practice. ５ To provide the opportunity to reeducate adult students and promote continuing education programs.   Graduate School of Health Sciences   The goal of the courses is to develop health care professionals who will be leaders in practice, education and research in the health science fields, and who will contribute to the improvement of health & welfare of both local and international populations, medical care and practice. For these purposes, we have set goals to cultivate the following human resources: １ Exceptionally bright co-medical professionals in nursing, radiology and medical technology. ２ Experts who fill leadership roles in education and research in the health sciences fields. ３ Specialists that contribute to improvements in the quality of health & welfare, medical practice and health care. ４ Researchers dedicated to the development of new medical technology, and those who can be advisors for community health promotion. 5 Those who can establish institutes for health promotion in collaboration with the local community. 6 Those who can promote international scientific contributions and exchanges through mutual understanding and collaboration.   Faculty of Medicine, Medical School   The primary mission of medicine is to contribute to the health and welfare of the human race. To educate physicians and medical researchers, it is necessary to enrich their connection to humanity, as well as their scientific knowledge and technical skills. "Advanced medical care at your side" is our fundamental principle. Our educational philosophy is to promote scientific thinking and advanced medical knowledge and techniques, and to earn the trust of society as clinicians and medical researchers.   Faculty of Health Sciences, Medical School   The role of health and medical activities is to provide treatment and care for people with diseases, to assist people with disabilities, and to support their health and well-being through education and instruction on the prevention of disease and health management. The mission of the faculty of the Health Sciences department is to cultivate staff members who can fulfill the role of the health and medical professionals while meeting the current needs of the field. The sharp decrease in the birth rate and the resulting rise in the proportion of the aged in recent years have brought big changes in the health care environment, necessitating a health care system that respects the quality of life. On the other hand, innovations in medicine have made health care highly-developed and specialized. Therefore, high quality health care professionals are needed who possess not only advanced knowledge and the ability to use new technologies and make sound scientific judgments, but also a well-rounded character, strong morals, and creativity so as to be able to understand people in a comprehensive manner and perform health care activities based on integrated cooperation between health care professionals and patients.   Dental School   Okayama University Dental School aims to facilitate progress in the dental sciences by turning out excellent dentists. Concurrently with the rapid diversification of social demands and the internationalization of the dental sciences, the quality of dental care has been rapidly improving. Okayama University Dental School fosters dental education with an emphasis on “providing high quality national dental care” and “conducting innovative research and developing cutting-edge dental care”. Dentistry is a comprehensive field covering wide range of scientific disciplines. The education and research at Okayama University Dental School covers topics ranging from the natural sciences to human and social sciences. Students with a background in both liberal arts and math and science are able to flourish under our program.   Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Okayama University Pharmaceutical Sciences was established to increase the development of the pharmaceutical sciences in 1969.
